Summer is a great time to share some kid friendly martial arts classics with your child. Below is a list of classic martial arts inspired movies that are kid friendly!

The Karate Kid – 1984 – Daniel (Ralph Macchio) moves to Southern California with his mother, Lucille (Randee Heller), but quickly finds himself the target of a group of bullies who study karate at the Cobra Kai dojo. Fortunately, Daniel befriends Mr. Miyagi (Noriyuki “Pat” Morita), an unassuming repairman who just happens to be a martial arts master himself. Miyagi takes Daniel under his wing, training him in a more compassionate form of karate and preparing him to compete against the brutal Cobra Kai.

Kung Fu Panda – 2008 – Po might just be the laziest, clumsiest panda in the Valley of Peace, but he secretly dreams of becoming a kung fu legend. When the villainous snow leopard Tai Lung threatens Po’s homeland, the hapless panda is chosen to fulfil an ancient prophecy and defend the Valley from attack. Training under Master Shifu, Po embarks on an epic high-kicking adventure as he sets out to thwart Tai Lung’s evil plans. A DreamWorks animation.

Wendy Wu – 2006 – Wendy Wu is a teenager who seems to have the perfect life: she’s beautiful, popular and one of the two candidates to be voted Homecoming Queen. However, her life is changed when Shen, a monk from China, imparts to her the shocking truth about herself- she is a reincarnated Yin Warrior, whose destiny is to battle the evil Yan Lo.

SideKicks – 1992 – A bullied teen who fantasizes about being Chuck Norris’ sidekick trains in martial arts to fulfill his dreams.

Surf Ninjas – 1993 – Brothers Johnny (Ernie Reyes Jr.) and Adam (Nicolas Cowan) are coasting through a fun surfer existence in Los Angeles when they are suddenly accosted by a band of ninjas. A mysterious warrior comes to their aid, later telling the brothers that they are the royal heirs to the throne of Patusan, an embattled island under the rule of a tyrannical leader (Leslie Nielsen). After discovering their untapped ninja skills, Johnny and Adam agree to travel to Patusan to overthrow the current monarchy.

Original Teen Mutant Ninja Turtle – 1990 – In New York, mysterious radioactive ooze has mutated four sewer turtles into talking, upright-walking, crime-fighting ninjas. The intrepid heroes — Michelangelo (Robbie Rist), Donatello (Corey Feldman), Raphael (Josh Pais) and Leonardo (Brian Tochi) — are trained in the Ninjutsu arts by their rat sensei, Splinter. When a villainous rogue ninja, who is a former pupil of Splinter, arrives and spreads lawlessness throughout the city, it’s up to the plucky turtles to stop him.

The Karate Kid 2 – 1986 – After learning that his father is dying, karate master Mr. Miyagi (Noriyuki “Pat” Morita) returns home to Okinawa, bringing his protege, Daniel (Ralph Macchio), with him. In Japan, Miyagi is surprised to discover that his old sweetheart, Yukie (Nobu McCarthy), has remained single. Meanwhile, Daniel is attracted to Yukie’s niece, Kumiko (Tamlyn Tomita). But romance must be put on hold while Daniel and Miyagi deal with local bullies and long-harbored grudges.

Teen Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 – 1991 – The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Mark Caso, Michelan Sisti, Leif Tilden, Kenn Troum) again battle their archenemy, the rogue ninja Shredder (Francois Chau). Shredder attempts revenge by obtaining the same radioactive ooze that created the Turtles and unleashing two new monstrous mutants: Tokka, an oversized snapping turtle, and Rahzar, a fearsome wolf-like creature. When Shredder plans to use the remaining ooze on himself, the Turtles must harness their ninja fighting skills to stop him.

Kung Fu Panda 2 – 2011 – Now known as the Dragon Warrior, Po (Chawalit Simankhongtham) protects the Valley of Peace alongside his friends and fellow kung fu masters, the Furious Five. However, a dangerous villain threatens Po’s awesome new life with plans to use a secret weapon to wipe out the martial art and conquer China. In order to defeat the new enemy, Po finds he must recall his past and unlock secrets of his mysterious origins; only then will he find the strength to vanquish his foe.

Shaolin Soccer – 2001 – All his life, an ordinary young man (Stephen Chow) has been treated like dirt. Still, he’s never given up believing that all the world’s problems could be solved with a little kung fu. So he’s teaming up with a band of misfits – six friends who were kung fu masters in their youth – to form a soccer team that only he believes has a chance to win a $1 million grand prize. Together, they’re going to apply their hidden talents to a whole new game — and soccer will never be the same.

3 Ninjas – 1994 – Young martial artists face their grandfather’s foes when they accompany him to Japan to deliver a priceless dagger.

Kung Fu Panda 3 – 2016 – Living large and loving life, Po (Chawalit Simankhongtham) realizes that he has a lot to learn if he’s going to fulfill the next challenge from his beloved instructor (Katreeya English). After reuniting with his long-lost father (Rong Kaomulkadee), Po must transition from student to teacher and train a group of fun-loving, clumsy pandas to become martial-arts fighters. Together, the kung-fu brethren unite to take on the evil Kai (Suwiwat Wattanapiriyaamorn), a supernatural warrior who becomes stronger with each battle.

3 Ninjas High Noon at Mega Mountain – 1998 – Ninja brothers Colt (Michael J. O’Laskey II), Rocky (Mathew Botuchis) and Tum Tum (Victor Wong) go to an amusement park to get a glimpse of their idol, action star Dave Dragon (Hulk Hogan). But when evil masterminds Medusa (Loni Anderson) and Lothar Zogg (Jim Varney) descend on the park, the boys are thrust into a real-life shoot-’em-up. Now they must use their martial-arts training to defend the park’s helpless guests — getting a little assistance from their longtime hero.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turgles 3 – 1993 – Reporter April O’Neil (Paige Turco) purchases an ancient Japanese scepter that can cause those simultaneously holding it in different centuries to switch places in time. When she is transported to 16th-century Japan, her crime-fighting pals, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, pursue her. After landing in the past, the Turtles learn April has been captured by the villainous Lord Norinaga (Sab Shimono). To rescue her, they must team up with rebel leader Misu (Vivian Wu).
